Writing a Blog Post Is Easy With These 3 Simple Tips

by Tanner Clegg

If you want to start a blog, but have no idea where to begin – don’t worry, you’re not alone. Writing a blog post can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With these three simple steps, you’ll be well on your way to cranking out blog posts like a pro in no time.

Step One: Choose a Topic

As a blogger, one of the hardest things to do is come up with topics that resonate with your readers. You want to write about something that interests them, but you also don’t want to write about something that has been overdone. With so much content out there, it can be tough to come up with something fresh.

If you’re passionate about what you’re writing about, that passion will shine through in your writing and your readers will take notice. If you’re struggling to come up with ideas, try brainstorming with a friend or family member, and keep a running list of topics that might resonate with your readers. Consider what their interests and passions are, as well as the problems they need help solving. By addressing these questions, you can ensure that your blog provides valuable content that your readers will be eager to consume.

In addition, try to be unique in your approach to the topics you cover. There are already a lot of generic blogs out there, so don’t be afraid to be experimental and take some risks. By thinking outside the box, you can give your readers something fresh and new that they won’t find anywhere else.

Once you’ve settled on a topic, it’s time to move on to step two.

Step Two: Write an Outline

Once you have your topic, it’s time to start putting fingers to the keyboard and start writing…right? Wrong! The second step to writing a great blog post is actually creating an outline of what you plan to write about. This may seem like pointless busy work, but it’s worth it. Having an outline will help keep you focused while you’re writing and ensure that your finished product is coherent and easy to read.

A typical outline might include an introduction, a main body, and a conclusion. However, you can also customize your outline to fit your needs. For example, if you’re writing a how-to post, you might want to include steps or bullet points in your main body. Or, if you’re writing a review, you might want to include a section for pros and cons. By taking the time to create an outline before you start writing, you can save yourself time and hassle later on. Plus, an outline can help to keep you focused as you write, making sure that your post is clear and concise.

Step Three: Write, Edit, Repeat

Now that you have your topic and outline, it’s finally time to start writing! Get all of your thoughts down and worry about editing later. Once you have a complete draft, go back and make any necessary changes.

Does everything flow smoothly? Are there any grammar or spelling errors? Here are a few other things to keep in mind:

First, make sure that your argument is clear and well-supported. What points are you trying to make, and why? Be sure to back up your claims with evidence. Next, take a look at your tone and style. Is the piece engaging and easy to read, or dry and dull? Finally, double-check all of your facts and figures. Nothing will damage your credibility more than publishing inaccurate information. And even if the information is correct, be sure to cite or link to your sources so that readers can check for themselves.

How long your blog post should be depends on a variety of factors, including your audience, the topic you’re writing about, and your own writing style. In general, shorter posts are more likely to be read and shared, while longer posts will give you more opportunity to delve into a topic in depth. That said, there’s no hard and fast rule about blog post length. The important thing is to write something that’s interesting and informative, and that will hold your readers’ attention. So if you have something to say, go ahead and say it – just be sure to keep your audience in mind.
